Shadow/Highlight correction
The Shadow/Highlight filter lets you correct shadows in a well-exposed image, silhouetted images due to strong backlighting, and to open up underexposed images. The Shadow/Highlight filter does not just lighten or darken an image, it lightens or darkens based on of the surrounding pixels in the shadows or highlights. This makes it free from the main disadvantage of the ordinary brightness correction methods - the loosing of local image contrast. In fact, image on Fig.2 is definitely brighter and has more details than one from Fig.1.
Shadow/Highlight filter may be used in automatic or manual mode.
